SUGGESTIONS

When is the best time to visit the Algarve?

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, the Algarve is always an appealing destination. Even so, each season has its own charm. Spring paints the fields in bright colors and highlights the contrast between the cliffs and the blue Atlantic, inviting visitors to take long walks by the sea. Summer is vibrant, full of lively beaches, warm nights, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. In autumn, the pace slows down: the weather stays pleasant, the sea remains inviting, and Algarve cuisine takes center stage with seasonal flavors. Winter, quieter and more relaxed, brings sunny days and reveals a more intimate Algarve, far from the tourist hustle and bustle.

What do you need to take with you on your trip?

Raveling to the Algarve calls for practicality. In summer, bring light clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. A good pair of comfortable shoes is essential, both for strolling through historic streets and exploring coastal trails. In mid-season, layering is the best solution, allowing you to adapt to temperature changes. In winter, a warm coat is usually enough, as the cold is rarely intense.

Health and safety:

The Algarve is considered a safe and welcoming region. The healthcare network is modern, with well-distributed hospitals and clinics. In case of emergency, the number to call is 112. Tap water is clean, safe, and drinkable throughout the region. For visitors from outside the European Union, it is recommended to have travel insurance for greater peace of mind during your stay.

Currency and payments:

The official currency is the euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, especially Visa and Mastercard. ATMs are easy to find, even in smaller towns. Digital payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and MB Way are increasingly available, making transactions simple and secure. Tipping is not mandatory, but it is appreciated as a gesture of thanks when the service is exceptional.
